Bon jour Family & Friends!
Thank you all for your prayers...the Mission Trip was unbelievable and personally life changing. In Rome we met with churches representing 34 nations. We had a prayer rally at Circus Maximus, where we sang and had communion. It was humbling to stand on the ground where so many Christians gave their life for their faith. We sang at the Trevi Fountain and visited the Coliseum, the Catacombs and the Arch of Constantine to name a few sites. In France we followed in the steps of the persecuted Huguenots as we traveled along the Mediterranean. We left on August 30, thinking that the Gulf Coast had "dodged a bullet". We received very little news for the first week. As we became aware that own beloved country entered into the worst kind of catastrophe, it became very difficult to focus on the work that God had for us to do in Italy and France. But we knew we had to continue, and so we did, with heavy hearts. We intentionally limited ourselves of news from back home. It was the only way we could complete our mission, and we felt very strongly that it was God's will for us to do so.
While walking through some of the more affluent areas along the coast in France, I was surprised at the similarities in our cultures. Two glaring characteristics that stood out is our tendency toward complacency and our focus on comfort. While on the journey, I had some time to contemplate these tenancies in my own life. I believe God wants us to enjoy the many blessings He gives us, yet not neglect those around us, those with less. Also, we should never seek or delight in anything above God. I have returned with a renewed passion for the things of God and my relationship with Him. I hope you will join me in praying for the revival and renewal of Italy, France and of course our beloved America. Thanks again for your many prayers!
May the Lord bless you all! Merci Beau coup & Santé ! Je t'aime, Allie.
